At the moment i have steam client installed on my c:\program files blah blah blah, but my latest steamlibrary games are on a separate drive.

Going to Win10 this weekend. Clean install. So if i copy just my steamapps folder, and put it back on my 'other' drive, as i want to keep my c: drive free from any games, should i be installing steam on the separate drive, or back onto my c: drive ?

If you want your C: drive clear of any games then install steam to another location.

What I did was copy the main steam folder from my old install. Then clean installed steam onto windows 10. Then just overwrote the new steam install with my old one.

You don't even need to reinstall it, just run it as an admin the first time after the format (if it's the same location)

As above. I'd backup your steam apps (and keep an original while reinstalling games in steam, better safe than sorry). If u need any more detail google is your friend.

Problem is i had many of my games on my c drive, and i moved them over using steamspreader, which moves the files but keeps 'junctions' on the C drive..

But I stopped doing that over a yr ago... So i'm happy to just re-download those old games.. Besides i have a 125mb d/l, so if i just leave it overnight, i'll have everything d/l again... My newer games, i just created a new library on a separate drive, rather than installing on my c and then moving with steam spreader (thus creating a boat load of NTFS junctions) or links, as some like to call them.
