Fridge computer case

Fridges cool things initially and then retain the same temperature.
With PC components items are constantly outputting heat, which means that they require far more energy to keep cool.
Fridge components will generally not last long in situations like this.

Not a great explanation, but that's the way I see it.

A fridge is only on maybe 40 minutes to an hour every day, most of the time it just preserves the temperature inside because there's a very well insulated environment. A computer constantly outputs heat meaning the heat pump inside the fridge will have to work constantly, basically you have fridges, and coolers. They perform two different tasks; if it was that simple, everyone would just keep their computer in the freezer, better than water cooling

id imagine condensation is also a problem if you simply put your pc in the fridge/freezer. So it would need to be a sealed/air conned environment etc as well as not lasting long.

Google "Vapochill". They arn't made these days, but they were one of the early phase change cooling specialists for PC's. OcUK even used to sell them.

I believe one of the reason phase has become less popular is that CPU's are clocking better and better on more simple air, and water based cooling systems, and there is less chance of condensation at the cooling head than phase systems.

There are still companies, and individuals making phase change coolers though.

spot on explanation. try leaving a fridge door open, thus meaning the fridge is constantly trying to cool its contents, and see how long she keeps running ;)

The "I've had a great idea..." fridge post used to come up every so often and now someone has actually made it?? :p

ThermalTake ain't exactly my favourite brand though... gonna read before passing judgement however.
