Fridge door left open

Last night I took a whole mackerel from the freezer and put it in the fridge to defrost. This morning I noticed my fridge door hadn't fully closed. Just wondering if the mackerel will be ok to use? If it doesn't smell off I guess it should be fine? I had wrapped it in clingfilm and then a wrap of bacofoil.

It'd likely be fine if you'd just left it out tbh. Then again I know some people who leave curry on their hob and reheat it over multiple nights...

It’ll be fine. Your fridge just worked very hard overnight and probably only had an internal temp of 2-3°C above its’ normal temp.

Should be okay, your fridge was still cold and trying to maintain that, and even if the cold air falls out, the solid food inside stays cold and takes much longer to defrost. As long as it wasn't sitting at room temps for hours, it should be fine. I bet if you'd stuck a thermometer into it, it still would have been between 5-10 degrees C. Just make sure you cook it through and get it hot enough to kill any possible bacteria.

probably should be more worried about your fridge working still in the not to distant future
