Ok so let me first say I NEVER raised the voltage much on this card. Highest I ran it was at 1.27v on single bench runs. So well below what 780 Classifieds can do.

Having said that, today while on desktop I used my Classy tool to bump the voltage up. Which was currently at stock.

So I bumped it to 1.25v, which is what I was gaming at last night. When I applied the voltage I heard a snap and my computer powered off. When it started back up it was just a wash of colors. Even in the bios.

What caused this? I never had a card do this before. :(

is it still like it? tried clearing cmos and re enter bios settings?

bad crash could cause those symptoms aswell, but if no luck with cmos clear then yh could well be cooked

EDIT: if its barely over stock voltage then I wouldn't say its fried then, could be buggy overclocking software aswell

Well I am doing some remodeling in the house, and I shut power off while my comp was on. After that was when it messed up. Not sure how that could cause anything though.

Just seems so weird. The card was running fantastic.

I did not try resetting the CMOS. I fear there is nothing to be done. Hearing a snap to me sounds like permanent damage happening.

how did you clear cmos? battery removal is the best (for atleast 5 to 10 minutes) and hold in front power button while pc is turned off at the wall to discharge it

turning off power while pc was running was bad idea,it usually corrupts the cmos,

I never tried clearing the CMOS. Also I did not mean to shut power off while PC was on. I accidently hit the wrong switch.

In all honesty is there a chance clearing the CMOS would do anything? A corrupt CMOS would not cause a snap would it?

where did the snap come from? inside the pc,could be psu shutting off idk

you have to try what you can before you rma or whatever

ive had power cuts take out a psu,and corrupt the os and cmos, same thing if you flick the mains switch, but yh cant be helped if it was accidental

you need to do battery cmos removal for few minutes then see if it cures it

I can give it a try I guess. The snap sounded like it was in the graphics card. Was very quick so not 100% sure. It happened as soon as I hit Apply for the voltage in the Classy tool.

Gave it a shot, still the same thing. So it looks like I need to RMA...:(

I just wish I knew what caused it.

if I were you id leave battery out overnight if you can,you have nothing to lose

then rma if no joy, could be anything, voltage spike, weak component on the gpu idk,

I had what you described, but with my evga 780 sc.
I didn't even play with voltage, just enabled k-boost in precision-x for some benching, then forgot to revert settings to normal and went to play few games in MWO.
My pc did exact same thing as you described and my main card started artefacting heavily.
Second is alive.
Oh well. I hope I can get it replaced under warranty or I will be severely ****ed,

Yeah its Friday so got all weekend before it can be sent out. Really bummed about this. Did a lot of gaming on it at 1300 core 1752 memory. Was happy to finally have a good clocker and this happens.

This is the second 780 Classy that I'll be replacing. makes me wish I just stuck with my SLI 770s. Had nothing but issues after selling them. :(

Lots of experienced people have suggested you clear the CMOS? Have you tried that....its not obvious from your posts. Also have you visually inspected the card?

Highly surprising to see a 780 classi nuking itself at 1.27v (if that is indeed what happened). Do you have another system to try the card? Also, do give the CMOS clear a good try.

If it is the 780, then EVGA won't give you any issues replacing it.
