Fried 8800 gts?

I think I may have fried my gts, my pc was dead so i thought i would try another power cable. Heard a crack and a spark, checked the pc over and could not get it to work. I have replaced the psu and have power to the motherboard but when I boot the pc i get flashing red bars of and lines of red, green and yellow. Eventually my monitor says it does not support this mode.

I think its a fair bet that not only was my psu shot but also my 8800. So the question is am I right? and if so what should I replace the my 8800 gts 320 with?
 
Before you make your purchase could you tell us what resolution your monitor is capable of displaying?.
