While I appreciate that he has gone from science fiction and fantasy fan to believing that everything from Star Trek to Game of Thrones is a tool of the occult and an abomination to god
Haha, now I just feel sorry for the guy. Star trek and Game of Thrones are reason enough to leave any nutty cult.
The problem you have is that you cannot have a reasoned discussion with someone in a group like this.
They don't socialise much with those outside of their group because it's very hard to maintain delusions when the vast majority of people are telling you that you're mental.
People that join groups like that usually have very little in their life prior to joining and find the attention and support they receive intoxicating.
Btw, you should probably mention that he is indeed a mental for believing a work of fiction whilst thinking that game of thrones is part of the occult. I would wager that game of thrones is a better read too.

Full of sweeping generalizations that. Would you like to explain how many people you are basing your 'findings' around?

No ring goes like a Ringo goes.
Also don't take it for granted that because we enjoy comedy in GD that we are not religous, Even Jesus had a sense of humour.![]()
Classical OCUK responses. Everywhere in this forum you will find responses claiming that religion causes so many problems and is the source of evil. The first reply in this thread suggests assaulting the said individual? Live and let live seems to only work one way.
It is his life and he can believe whatever he wants. It isn't a strange thing for people to follow religion in a Christian country you know. Some folks actually look into a faith and the historical evidences that may back it up rather than the typical OCUK response of 'lol religion'.
I won't be forcing my beliefs down anyone else's throat but it seems that the OCUK anti-religion brigade have a stronger conviction than religious people.

Religion is pretty much the sole cause of war in the world and is one of the main sources of stupidity. I have nothing really against religion at the end of the day it works for others then all fine and dandy but don't start forcing it upon me or talking **** about my family.
I had one guy not long back trying to accost me in the street and a reverend or something from what his badge said, anyway I said I wasn't interested and kept walking. Would he take no for an answer? Hell no, in the end I had to threaten him just to get him to leave us (me and my other half) alone.
Religious people need to learn that when people say no they frickin' well mean it!
Stoner81.
Did you miss the part of the OP where he said that the friend is acting like a complete **** towards him and judging him based on his just found nutty groups views. I don't think anyone here has a problem with those that are religious but most also get a little miffed when someone is preaching ******* to them as if it is anything more than a work of fiction.
Full of sweeping generalizations that. Would you like to explain how many people you are basing your 'findings' around?
Well, that depends on whether you have actually read the OP or whether you have just decided to play devils advocate and pretend that you are above an opinion on this.
The guy has met the group, they sound like pillocks. They are judging his way of life and telling him that its sinful and wrong.
I had a number of friends at university who managed to join these types of groups and they are all very strange places. The pressure and they brainwash and sometimes they have been "teaching" their members since childhood.
So the fact that many of the historical accounts mentioned in the book of the Christian faith were erroneous then? Having faith in something that is backed up by history is hardly stupid. Open for interpretation maybe but not stupid.
To a Christian it is more than a book of fiction. It has to be given at least a bit of credibility given the fact that some of the stuff in it is backed up by other historical accounts.
