A friend of mine got a laptop and the ad showed that the computer had a T7300 cpu clocked at 2Ghz. When i got the pc to install some things on it, when i run dxdiag it shows me that this is a T7100 core at 1.8Ghz and on device manager it shows one core to me T7300 at 2Ghz and the other core T7100 running at 1.8 Ghz.
What is the case here. A weird combination of cores, Intel lowering the frequency of one core to 1.8Ghz?
Any ideas on the subject guys?

I had this happen when I swapped a dual core for a quad core, in device manager it identified 2 of the cores as the dual core and the other 2 as the quad core. Can't see how it would manage it though with 2 dual cores.

I think I fixed it by "Scan for hardware changes".

Random thought: Were you running on mains or battery at the time? Check the BIOS to see if this is any of the power saving tricks kicking in.

Actually - just check the BIOS to find out what the CPU is. :D
