Ok i apologise if this is the wrong forum, but people seem to be posting everything apple related here so...

a friend of mine has a macbook pro as i've said. The problem is the macbook doesn't seem to like power supplies all that much. her first supply literally cooked itself to death. her current second supply (a replacement from apple) runs so hot when charging that she cant touch it, and im sure that one will cook itself soon enough.

Now i know of the apple battery problem, but do they affect macbook pro's? is this even the problem? i dont know, this is out of my field of expertise so im hoping one of you guys can offer some advice?

Yeah sounds dodgy, the batteries on the Macbooks are having a tendency to expand at the moment and become defective which could be related to the too hot to touch charger issue.

Might be worth contacting Apple again perhaps?

Apple released a battery software update not too long ago which can tell you if your battery needs replacing or not.

The chargers do get a bit toasty, but if it was getting overly hot I wouldn't even use it. We've had several batteries suffer from the 'no charge of death' but none of those have been Pros yet. If you have a local Apple store you could always go in and plug it in, they will soon tell you if it's getting abnormally hot.

hmm i will tell her to get it in to a store. she's already been in touch with apple once, obviously, to get a replacement charger. i reckon she'll get more help if she takes it to a store tbh:)
