Friend has a virus.. help

Basically, my friend said that he kept loosing his connection to the net. So he downloaded an Adware remover (not sure which) and it found a trojan apparently. This trojan was installing more trojans but he managed to get rid of it.

But now he cant change his desktop background or uninstall certain programs.

I've told him to try hitman pro, but i was just wondering if anyone could identify what this virus/spyware could be?

Had a trojan on my machine recently, used a combination of winpatrol and Ad-aware to get rid of it.
Used winpatrol to disable/delete any programmes running then Ad-aware scan to remove the parts that were reinstalling themselves on reboot.
 
tbh to have any chance of cleaning this out we would need to know a) the name of the reported trojan infection and/or b) the names of any suspicious programs running in memory. A hijackthis log should be able to get at least some of this, and possibly a screen-grab of this task manager.

BraveSentry.exe is the only definite nasty I can see there. I'd recommend running hijackthis and/or manually deleting the file in safe mode.
