Friend's car clamped

This guy's got bad luck :p

Yesterday his wife filled his car up with petrol (it's a diesel) and drove it till it stopped.

Going to cost him an absolute fortune to repair

pfft wont cost a mint, i've done that twice now in the van :D
just drain all the petrol out, refil with diesel and then turn over plenty to purge.
ps it'll smoke like **** for a while but it works no worries :)

If your car is towed away, how do u know who has taken it?

Surely you'd just come back and find an empty space.

£500 is completely unreasonable and must be defendable

Well apparently this has been tried, the engine won't start at all.
He has taken it to a BMW dealership and said repair would be anything from £4 to £10k as the engine might need replacing.

He cancelled the cheque and they haven't come back to him yet... :o

Wouldn't surprise me. Petrol plus modern common rail or PD diesel is the worst possible combination.

Especially as the car was ran till it stopped:/ Does insurance cover things like this?

Could always do what my dad's mate done and beat the crap out of the guy at the clamping office until he releases the car but then you'd have to go to court and be told to keep a distance of 100 yards from the person :p still effective as he didn't have to pay the release fee :D

edit/ just read the posts above, is the guy normally unlucky at everything in life? :p

he spent the first 10 years of his life throwing rocks in a mirror factory.

I got a text from my dad a few weeks ago:

Four wheel clamps: £50 each.

Putting them in the back of the Estate when you want to go anywhere: very little effort.

Parking your mum's car wherever the **** you want to: £priceless

I got clamped about 3 weeks ago, by a private little company. The two guys who were clamping were parked up in a black golf and they stay nearby waiting for the person to return, I seen them clamp afew other cars aswel.

Anyhow, I was furious at getting clamped seeing as I'v been parking there for about 2 yrs (private property book shop) but knowing one of the workers there, I pay him once I return to my car. Never had a problem to that day.

As soon as I approached my car the guys got out of their golf and came to me, I explained to them the situation in which they said sorry they can't do anything, they wanted £85. I told them there is no way in hell im paying them £85 :) so just leave the car there and we will see what happens. In the meantime I went to B&Q to purchase some boltcutters, I went to about 3 shops and couldn't find anything at all big enough. I came back to my car and they were still there, they warned me if I tried anything I can be arrested for criminal damage, by this time afew of my mates were with me anyway. In the end I managed to get them down to £40 and they took it off there and then, I also told them I still had afew lectures left at uni so I wanna leave my car for the rest of the day lol. £40 is the most expensive parking space iv ever had :( :p
