My friend has been running his new system for about a week now, hes got a DFI NF4 Infinity mobo, 200gb maxtor Sata hard drive, x2 corsair twinx3200 ram, Athlon 4200+ X2 a GTX7800, and a Qtec 650W Triple Fan psu (CA-003-QT)

All of the sudden its randomly died. The LED lights on the motherboard still come on, but thats it.
I think some of the rails on the PSU have died, so hes going to get it replaced, but is this PSU good enough for this system? And is there anything else that could have caused it to die like this?

Cheers

Fozz

That is one of the worst PSU's you can buy, and it is on one of the better systems you could get.

Hope the PC is ok. As said try another known working PSU, preferably a well known brand of 400w+

can someone pls educate me on PSU's?

Or point me in the right direction....

I believe 12 rails are what everything in the PC uses however is it true for dual core you need a PSU which caters for dual 12 rails (if that makes sense)

p.s. apologies to take over the thread
