need a little help working out what the problem is.

he got up this morning and switched it on and its totally dead. no noise from the psu.

plus 2 fuses had dropped on the house fuse box.

broken psu? he had no surge protection, the computer was off but plugged in.

any help/advice would be much appreciated.

thanks

yea he hasnt moved it or anything so its un-likely to be any of the leads. im gonna take a look and see if there's anything visibly wrong with it inside. if the psu fried, any chance of anything else being fried?

thanks for your help gurusan

Depends on the PSU to be honest. You'll have to test everything with a new PSU to see what's dead and what's survived.

its an Antec TruePower Trio 430W PSU.

the pc is not that old so he's obviously very concerned with the state of the components. 7900gtx, fx-57 etc

dont think he'll be running his pc without surge protection again :(

as it's a well known make, and they have 'good' safety precautions i would say the rest of his stuff *should* be fine.
i know when my antec PSU blew my other components were safe, still using them now :) (and i was surge protected...so don;t know how it happened, had been working reasonably problem free for over a year :()

if its within warranty and he has P.o.P. then antec will send a new one in short order
