Guys my friends hdd is kaput and im trying to find the easiest way to help him out as he lives 3 hours away by car.

He has an asus P6T vanilla mobo. I propose to buy a hdd, install win 7 and get everything working for him. I plan to do this with my server machine which has an Asus P6T SE mobo. In theory if i post the hdd with everything installed on it, he just has to plug it in............right?!?

Either that or just create a windows usb to send with win2flash and on the same usb put the ethernet driver for the board. That's what I usually do for friends.

it should be fine.

I went from a AMD system, 4 GB of ram and mobo to a intel system, 6GB of ram and a different motherboard and didn't have to re install windows at all.

just make sure that ACHI is turned on and the sata ports are setup the same as your mobo otherwise it may not boot

Burn a disk, send the HDD with simple instructions on how to do it but also call them and guide them through the installation process. That's what I do
