Hello all, one of my friends has just built a new PC and it seems to boot up ok, all the fans are spinning etc and the Motherboard is displaying a green light, the problem is the Monitor isnt displaying an image and theres no POST beep either, is this normal? as i'm no where near him I figured the quickest suggestion would be to ask you guys, I told him to reseat/reconnect the graphics card but that seems to be definitely connected, all the Mobo power plugs are connected according to him, the 8 pin ATX power plug, but doesnt every mobo make a POST beep noise? or is that not in all Motherboards? Many Thanks for the help ;D :p

Does his mobo have any indicator? like showing a number or anything? I had a similar problem in my recent build and the mobo would give me some error numbers (nothing showing up on the monitor). I ended up doing a CMOS clear, had to do it twice in the end, (with the pc and monitor unplugged) and then powering on/off the monitor and everything worked!

Can he try the monitor on another computer to verify it works?

He needs to have a cable from the psu to the gpu for certain, is he plugging in the correct cable (I dont think you can go wrong with it but cant tell for sure).

Finally resitting the gpu might be a solution.

That's all I can think of at the moment!

ps. if the mobo plugs are all connected then the cpu fan should be swirling and the gpu fan (if it has one) as well...can he verify that? Simply the fans spinning says nothing as he may have plugged them to the psu but not plugged in the mobo..

ps2. maybe resit the gpu to another pci if available?

ps3. also check this thread, someone is facing a similar problem: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17960903
