Friends pc dont working - NEED HELP PLEASE :)

Hey, friend built his pc yesterday but its not workig. Pritty much same spec as mine, mine comes tomorrow yay

lol.

Anyway, keep getting blue screens trying to install things in vista 64bit. Safe mode seems to work but some things wont install in same mode it seems, riva tuner wont work in safe mode.

Im thinking it could be memory but we downloaded mem test and there was no exe file in it. Downloaded 2 different types of the same version from the offical website and no ex files in them to install.

So any help please? One of the blue screens says something about less or equal if that helps.

tried just using 1 stick of ram?

just did that and we got one stick working and things seem to be ok. we going through them as i was typing.

Areo is also not working, how do you get aero to work?

Trying the second stick right now, if all work i gues we then gota try each mobo slot.

Temperatures while running prime using core temp were low to mid 40s so that seems fine

If it seems memory stable with 1 stick, have you set the voltage correctly (seeing as theres 4 sticks there) for the RAM?

had 4 sticks on 1.9, currently running 1 stick on 1.9 and seems to be ok. perhapas 4 sticks needs 2v? either that or 1 of the sticks or mobo slots is dead. we shall find out soon only 2 more to go but no more bsod so i think its safe to assume its the ram or perhaps they need 2v instead of 1.9v for 4sticks.

still dosn't explain the problems with rivatuner not working.

also areo wont work and neither will the network

all the things with administrator next to them wont work either yet we are the administrator. Things in the user account cant be clicked on and you cant click right click run as admin.

afaik aero only comes on the untimate version. if you found a couple of sticks that work ok try doing a clean install of vista.

this laptop is home premium and has it on.

Oo and all the sticks work it just needed tht extra bit of voltage.

So where is the setting to turn it on?

Its in the Window color and Appearance options, right click on desktop and hit personalise. Then click on the color and appearance option at the top, once thats opened, at the bottom click the "open classic blah blah" and you'll see it on the list.
