Ok so i built my friends computer but i cannot get to him until friday evening so i thought i would try and gat a plan of action together to try and find out his problem.

so this is what he bought...

Samsung 128GB SSD 830
AMD A6-3670K 2.70GHz (Socket FM1) APU Processor
2x GeIL Black Dragon 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3
Corsair Builder Series CX 430W V2 '80 Plus Bronze
Sapphire HD 6450 1024MB GDDR3
Asus F1A75-V PRO AMD A75 (Socket FM1) DDR3
Alpenföhn Civetta CPU Cooler

now the symptoms are, he just tried to switch on his pc after using it a few hours before. He pushed the power button and it tried to start up but soon stopped before it posted.
Now its done that before when the overclock failed so i said just reset the bios and start again so he did and the same thing happened so i said turn off the pc and remove the battery from the mobo, when he put it back after a few seconds it now dosent even try to start, its as he put it dead?

I first of all want to test the PSU so mu first question is... do i jump the green and black to start the psu without the mobo, i want to hook up a fan just to see if the psu is dead?

Secondly i will take out all four sticks of ram and try just one stick, and so on.

What else should i check?

many thanks

I think they are the main items to check, also try another CMOS reset using the onboard jumper.

Try running the system external to the case as the last result.

If I was a betting man I would bet on the psu, but I'm not as I lose...

That would be my instinct, usually if the green light isn't lit you would think the mobo is borked, but one of my last mobo's didn't work even when the light was on.

Ok small update after leaving the battery out and unplugged all night it has now switched on O_O so i think the overclock failed and messed the bios up?

im gonna step the clock down to 3.2 and see how that goes :)
