Hello all,

A friend of my is having the following problem.

After i put my plug in, to power up my computer, i then turn it on. But several seconds later, it turns itself off. Sometimes, i wait for about 10 minutes then turn it on, but my keyboard and mouse don't work. After waiting for about 20 minutes, i turn the computer on and everything turns on fine and the computer runs with no more problems. It's just getting the computer started up which takes about 20 minutes, to wait for it.

Any Ideas?

PSU or a flakey mobo.

He can try the paperclip test on the PSU and use a multimeter to test the voltages or swap in a known good PSU. If the PSU is ok I'd lean towards the mobo being on it's way out. Faulty mobos cause all kinds of weird problems. He can try doing a CMOS reset before writing off the board

Thank you guys. i'll pass your suggest to him now, i had a feeling it was the PSU or Motherboard but i wanted another person view on the problem...

I think he is going to take it back to the person who build it in the first place as it could be a number of problems, I will keep you guys updated. Cheers for the help again.
