why is angent broiles back in alt world? he died and had nothing to do or meeting with Peter? surely if he's back from the dead then charlie or anyone who ever died in world could and would be??

***Spoiler***

It's all a bit up in the air but really anything may or may not have happened. Would Olivia have had a reason to go over the the alt world if Peter never existed? Maybe not, but she cleary did because the altys are in our universe. They have a blank card to change anything they want at the moment really.

i know the show is far fected and so on, but this has really bugged me, as like you said its blank! if peter did not exist then why would walt have crossed and so on... bit silly really, i always thought this show knew where it was going right up until the very last episode of season3... it now appears they dont lol

Suggest if your all up to date with ti go check out article on IGN, Has some quotes from the cast members which sound VERY interesting especially regarding Peter.

Also How in the hell are they going to answer the question regarding Peters Baby with Alt Olivia? I get the kid may of disappeared but i sense at some point all the characters will remember and the baby thing will come up bit of a big thing to throw away.

Bring over your best lady friend get her to have Olivia`s hair style and say well my best friend will do it for me and my wife wont charmin...

This still may highly end badly for you though :p

Id have at least one woman in close proximity to my bedroom dressed as olivia, how bad could the evening end :D

Well, we know Peter is going to be coming back into it shortly. Does this mean that these first few episodes will become redundant? After all, if Peter has infact existed then this will change everything. I'll be interested to see how they go about this.

I always hate the "starting fresh" technique that some shows seem to employ but they will have to find some way around this, that's for sure.

I don't think it is the fact that Peter didn't exist, it is just that Walter didn't save him in normalverse, and then he also died when Walter went to take him from altiverse.
So in essence, the link between universes was made, but from then on Peter played no part.

There do appear to be a few holes that will need filling, but as long as they are not Lost sized holes I will be happy.

its screwed up! silly plot this... walt only crossed for peter who did not exist... so he never crossed how do they know of each other?

Sorry, I didn't mean NEVER existed even though that's what I wrote. :p

Yea the link was made. It's convenient that both universes happened to come together at this time with no involvement from Peter. I'm sure they will tie this up though.

He did exist, Walter crossed over, to save alt.peter, but alt.peter drowned in the lake on the way back, because the tin man didn't rescue them after the ice broke.

Not to mention that most of it is covered under Peter's "I have linked the two universes using the machine" clause.

Yes but he wasn't around to link the 2 universes using the machine because he died as a child. ;)

That's the paradox that this entire season is going to hinge around I am sure.. Will probably play out along the lines of, because he was within the machine when he repaired the rift between the two universes, he was protected from the temporal backlash that would have occurred, thus shifting him to a state of 'outside reality', hence his ghostly appearances coupled with the 'memories' that both Olivia and Walter are experiencing.

But who operated the machine from their point of view if it was not Peter?

It's going to be interesting!

we don't know he never existed, the blad men only mentioned that the time line had been restored, that may have meant that both Peter's are dead. Like the lake scenario mentioned by Ceryndrion

At the end of season 3 they did actually say "he never existed" but then Walter, in season 4, tells us that he went over to the alternate universe to save Peter who died in his universe. I don't know if that's a continuity error or if they mean he never existed as an adult or something.

I believe that it is supposed to be that he never lived into adulthood, which means that the timelines were preserved for both universes as they should have been to begin with, however, due to divergent timelines and temporal causality, there remains an adult peter now in a limbo state.

Or something like that.

But the timelines wern't preserved, Broiles is alive in the alternative universe when we saw him killed.

But what your saying is he just ceased to exist at the point he disappeared but that everyone just had their memories erased? It's a possibility but the timelines have changed and our Walter remembers him dying as a child.
