Fringe

Just finished season 2, have been buying the blu ray boxsets once they've price dropped, bought season 2 for £12.99 which I thought was good value considering it's 20 odd episodes in length. Will have a shop around for season 3 soon. Walter makes the show for me, what a great actor John Noble is.

That's an amazing price for a box set on blu-ray!

I remember when I first bought a box set...it was the X-Files in the collectors edition, I had to buy my first DVD player to go with it...cost me about £90 for the season!

Are there extras on the boxsets? I'd imagine that'd be something I'd like to dig into - I enjoyed the likes of Futurama with the commentaries and extras. There's so much going on with Fringe that I know I miss lots of it.

Yes there are extras which include, commentaries and interviews with cast/production members etc. There is also behind the scenes footage which outlines how certain scenes are created, going into reasonable detail on stunts and special effects.

So is the original timeline totally out of the picture now then? The characters are not going to go back to the way they were in the first three seasons? ....I would prefer it to tbh.

I enjoyed the final, I do agree a little that DRJ death was a bit of an anti-climax but you could see that he really wasn't the head honcho we'd assumed, seems silly that only he was sent to get Peter, you'd have thought he had a few baddy mates with guns to do it properly...:p

Nice shipper moment at the end, but you could tell she was going to say she was pregnant, and you could see that would've been the final moment of the series, the Walter moment an add-on since they got renewed.

But I did read somewhere (tvline I think), asked Wyman about a hesitation in Olivia telling Peter about being pregnant and Wyman said that was a good observation and it'll be understood why she hesitated. Not sure what that could mean, expecting twins? or she has a condition?...that might explain why she wasn't with them in 2036.

Also I can only assume we'll see Nimoy again at the very end when they get locked up in Amber.

Edit, Here have picture of this wonderful goddess:

U MAD BRO!

Edit-

Thinking back, Walter also has memories of Peter, as he also saw images of him before he returned, so I hope this isn't ignored and they find a way to maybe return everyone to normal. I don't see how they could, but then I didn't see how they could reconcile everything from this series, but I thought they did a great job.

The hesitation from olivia could be based on the condition that she has or runs in her family. When fake olivia got pregnant in season 3 i think they mentioned it.

but fake olivia did not really get preggers as it did not happen now ... pffffff

But is still in the family. Its a genetic condition i think. Remember that it seems that most of the changes apply after the incident with walter taking peter. Olivia was already around so the genetic condition should be there.

That condition was only in the Red universe, not in the Blue, and since the Amber or 4th season was a reflection of the Blue (but without Peter) it still wouldn't be a problem. I think. Very confusing.

I still think its to do with Mr. X, myself. I'm not convince thats been explained, or how Bell came to be locked up in Amber with them but the fact that Walter said he couldn't forgive Bell for what he did to Olivia, that suggests something else is due to happen. :/

Makes you wonder when S5 will start, i.e time jump to after the baby is born? Or maybe split to reflect what happens before the Olivia incident and what happens after?

I try not to think too hard about Fringe's storytelling, it tends to confuse me! :o

Yes, it does.

I was abit iffy about the show from the first couple of episodes. The story gets interesting when the overarching storyline kicks in, and it gets better as they continue to twist and reveal what the heck is going on.

Personally think this is one of the better Sci Fi out there from the last few years, and still running with a large fan base. That can only mean the series will continue :)

Yeah you might have to grind through some of the early episodes tbh, but towards the end of season one it gets very good, and then grows in to an excellent show from then on.

I would say-

Season 1- 7.5/10(can be slow)
Season 2- 8.5/10(gets much better)
Season 3- 10/10(one of my favourite shows of all time during this season)
Season 4- back to around 8/10(but still great, and like season 1 gets MUCH better in the second half)

Season 5 is shaping up to be pretty epic as well

It is definitely worth hanging on in there

Does this get better?

i watched the 2-ish hour pilot and it was rather slow and boring.

Yes. Massively.

I remember when I first started watching it with the missus, she has a far higher tolerance for poor TV than me but I got fed up with it and we didn't get further than the first three or four episodes.

We did eventually go back to it because of the rave reports about it and it really is good, we are massive fans of it now, you just have to get through the first few which are poor.
