i just took a machine that i built years ago back as a part exchange so decided to play about with it and so far without any voltage increases i have managed to do this -
stock-

2.5-

athlon 62 3200+ @ 2.5
motherboard - Abit AN8-V
vcore - 1.410
fsb - 250
anyone got any idea what would be a good overclock on this and any suggestions getting there ?
cooler is an artic cooling alpine 64 and 42c is the highest its went so far at 2.5ghz
memory is 2 x 512 mb ocz premier ddr 400 cl 2.5 and its running at 418 at 2.5ghz (set at 333 in bios)

i tried 260 fsb with the memory set to 266 and the ht thing at x 3 but the machine wont even switch on at that and hard to reset the cmos :(

Note i can OC to 3.6ghz but i have issues with BF BC2 stuttering, so i run a mild OC.
 
tried it to confirm

on the third gulftown i have used

max thread count is 8, it will not let me select 12 :(
 
No difference. It's the new hotness but the E8400 was just as fast....and also memory performance is terrible on the i3...for some reason even worse than having the memory controller in the IMC.

I only have it because I am on my way to an i5 750 but couldn't afford it, so this is a stopgap CPU.
