An Austrian jury convicted Josef Fritzl of murder, enslavement, incest, rape and other charges today and sentenced him to life in a psychiatric ward for holding his daughter captive for 24 years and fathering her seven children.

tbh I was expecting a bigger sentence. But I mean what a messed up man, he said sorry from the bottom of my heart. Come on! That's not going to make things better! he knew what he was doing for 25 years.

It was a very quick case aswell, he got what he deserved.

They do seem to have quite a quick trial process in Austria, given his age I suspect he'll spend most of his remaining days behind bars, so justice does appear to have been done.

I understand he has been getting counselling and has essentially been on suicide watch. The Austrian justice system wouldn't be done any favours by letting a high profile prisoner commit suicde.
