ive got a samsung 19" 930BF and have been thinking of getting a nice 22" widescreen monitor.
been looking at getting a Samsung SM-226BW monitor.

how much bigger will the display be compared to my current 19"?
will it be worth me getting a 22" monitor?
if any one has gone from a 19" ( none widescreen monitor) to 22" widescreen monitor can you post here and let me know if you were pleased etc with your upgrade :)

I have both those 2 monitors in dual display. The 19" is as tall as the 22", so as far as height is concerned its more or less ideal. The only difference is height resolution (19" = 1024, 22" = 1050), but i barely notice. As far as as width is concerned its obviously wider and imo very much worth it. I could not go back to non widescreen monitors now.
/me gets out tape measure
The screen width of the 930bf is 14 3/4 inches
The screen width of the 226bw is 18 1/2 inches
I say go for it :p

that tvcalculator is a good find !
the 22" seem great monitors for gaming , which is mainly what i use my PC for :D
just been looking at the LG L226WTQ 22" Widescreen one, on offer this week only as well

what are you using your dual display for ? does it work well with a 19" and a 22"?

:)

my only advice to you, is make sure you dont have any friends with a 24" display, because you will always want that extra 2 inches and the (much) higher resolution. :o

I'm OK there, no friends!

Got my new screen set up, not quite happy with the colour/contrast/brightness settings yet, but as a step up from a 19", I'm happy with it, still trying to get used to moving my head from side to side to read web pages! :D

It's not drastically bigger than a 19" 5:4 panel - less than a 10% increase in surface area in fact. One of the problems with widescreen monitors is that effectively you are getting less screen for a quoted size due to the aspect ratio. For example a standard 20" monitor is bigger than a 22"WS model.

Obviously the increased resolution will make it seem a bit bigger for desktop usage though.

ermm no, it will give you a 24% increase in screen area. 20" 4:3 is only a 10% increase. Don't know where you get these ideas from.
