So i am thinking of upgrading my pc from

Windows xp 32 bit to Windows vista 64 bit
From 3.0ghz single core to a Q6600

Now here is my question.

I use 2x1gb ram ocz ram 800mhz

Would getting 2x2gb ocz ram 800mhz disable dual channel?
Should i just dump off the 2x1gb from the motherboard and install only the 2x2gb ocz ram?
Will having 2x2gb and 2x1gb effect any cpu overclocking?

Using an abit fatality pro Fp-in9 sli motherboard

As long as you have the same amount of memory in each of the two channels then it will run dual channel (3gb & 3gb in your case).

You'll have to test to see whether the two types of memory will run together. Sometimes different types of memory run fine together, sometimes they won't.

And filling all 4 slots *may* hamper your CPU overclock. Depends on your individual board (and I've no experience with 650i based boards).

But 6gb is usually overkill anyway. Unless you're going to be using it all then you may be better selling the old memory.

Doesnt vista cache as much ram as possible to make it faster or something?

Sorry not that much of a pro in software
Thanks i will be going for 2x2gb due to over clocking.

You guys have always been of great help !
