I just upgraded from my X800 XL, to my X1800 XT

My 3500 Venice, is clocked at just under 2.6 Ghz, cause otherwise it isnt stable, do you think i should order a 3700 SD and Sell the venice...

Its a hard decision for me to make :(

Im hoping if i order a 3700 SD, it will clock to atleast 2.8

I wouldn't, you could get the 3700+ and find it doesn't clock to 2.8ghz. Even if it did you wouldn't notice much of a difference from your 3500+ at 2.6ghz.

If you want a noticeable performance increase i'd go for a dual core cpu.

I ordered a 3700 from OCUK last week for my brother. The stepping was KAB3E and I've got it running at 2.8 on stock volts without any messing about. There's no guarantee with these things though.

I doubt you would notice much of a difference tbh.

I went from a 3800 venice to a 3700 SD and the differnce is noticable (when I clocked it to 2.8ghz, just a slight voltage bump needed.

My stepping was KAB2E, and I blieve OcUK have a set of good stepping.

I would advise you order the CPU and if it arrives with lame stepping RMA it and get a refund (ok, you'll lose out on postage but thats about it!).

Good stepping for a 3700 SD existing in KAB2E or KAB3E.

Its up to you though buddeh.

actually if he does send it back its a 15% re-stock charge afaik. so it probably means he loses out on about £20-25

Mmm, i'm not sure. You get charged a re-stock fee if you have open the item at all.

But I believe under the trading standard rules and regs, if you return the item in exactly the same condition in 7 days they must give you a full refund.

But then again, I could be wrong. Best bet is to ask them. ;)

tbh even though trading standards rules and reg's may say that it never works out there way. tbh i wouldnt be fighting for £20-25 if i bought a chip to overclock it...
