From 5.1-7.1?

Hi was thinking of upgrading my old (dont laugh) Sound Blaster Live! which i think is 5.1 (though maybe 4.1) to the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1:

will i notice a difference? (i mainly game with headphones)

Possibly. The Audigy supports a higher EAX level so you may get some changes to environmental audio in games. Nothing to do with the number of channels though. You're stuck with 2 on a standard pair of cans.
