From Big to Small...

Hey there,

I am looking into downsizing in the physical sense, but not in the performance areas of computing. I'll be needing to maintain a system that will allow for:

+ High End PC Gaming
+ either 2 x 24" or 1 x 26+" monitor
+ RAM and CPU intensive software application (dataset processing, visualisation and analysis)
+ Solid-state drives internal, and HDDs external (via eSATA, FW and USB3.0).

Price, whilst preferably cheaper-the-better, isn't that much of an issue (as I haven't upgraded in over 2yrs now).

Would you have any suggestions for the best SFF system, without compromising on quality of components or cooling?

The only compromise these days is that your limited to single GPU.
There are a few questions you need to think about though, is your priority size or power? SG05-450 will run an i7 and a 680, (not sure lengths on 7 series. Benifix prodigy is a bit bigger but gives you more scope on GPU length and a few more drive slots.

once you have decided on the case its a bit easier, cooling is mostly limited to air or closed loop unless your willing to get creative. i have seen a youtube vid of a guy modding an sg05 to run a custom loop for gpu and cpu cooling but it was a lot of work.

unless your going for extreme OC the ITX boards will do everything you need.

Quick limits to ITX (general rules not hard and fast)

single GPU
OCing usually less than performance ATX boards but not rubbish
only two RAM slots
cases have GPU length limitations
some have the cpu socket close to the PCIE slot so check that cooler is compatible
