From Norton to ?

Nod32 is great for a stand alone AV. There is also Eset smart security which is Nod32 but with built firewall, anti-spam and anti-spyware.

If you need a free AV and firewall then you cant go wrong with Avast anti-virus and Comodo firewall.

Eset Nod32 is very user friendly the menu is very clean and nicely laid out, it uses hardly any resources but yet it will catch nearly any virus which is on your PC it also does not throw up false positives all the time where as some other anti-viruses do. Also the scanner is very fast and you will not notice any slow downs when scanning your PC for viruses.

NOD 32 is good but I recently had a problem installing with a piece of comms software with NOD running, and stopping it running completely wasn't straight forward n order to load the program, got it done in the end and all is fine.

AVG I find to be very good too.

totally agree.

tbh, eset rules... :p :D

AVG is good for a free AV personally I think Avast is better. But AVG throws up too many false positives, I also think it uses too many resources when scanning compared to Nod32, Avast and kaspersky.

If you are willing to pay then NOD32 Antivirus. You could also try the new Eset Smart Security, which has been mentioned. I think Kaspersky has a firewall/antivirus combo and Eset presumably wanted a competitor to that.

If you just want to get the NOD32 Antivirus then Comodo free firewall is quite good also.

I replaced Norton with Avast (FREE) Home edition after my mate who uses his PC for work as opposed to games like I do mine.

If its good enough for him...... & all that! :)

18 Months later,I do not regret the switch - no viruses! - and have saved myself a packet!:)

If you have a router you don't need the extra resource usage of a software firewall. Unless of course you're concerned about your common sense when downloading and running rogue files :)
