Soon to replace my Nvidia 8600gt with an Ati HD4850 (at last), and was wondering whether there's any sure fire way to completely remove all my Nvidia display drivers before the change over?

I was wondering whether or not there could be any issues when changing drivers to a different manufacturer.

Would just an uninstal be sufficient?

Cheers

Cheers for the advice.

So I remove drivers, reboot, cancel found new hardware & run driver sweeper.

Just another question.
At what stage should I remove my Nvidia card for the Ati one?

I have never had to run such programs, just uninstall as normal. I have switched ATi<>Nvidia a lot on this install, not had 1 problem.

it's not like a Nvidia driver is going to be installed for an ATi card is it...

The problems arise when the drivers aren't thoroughly removed, which happens regularly. This is why a lot of people swear by driver cleaner.

I've experienced it both ways, sometimes I can just install a driver over my current set (ATi 8.5s to 8.6 for example) but sometimes it doesn't like that method, so I've had to completely uninstall the drivers and use driver cleaner to make the new set installs cleanly.
