Hi folks,

I'm wondering what people's opinions are of making this move in 2016, if any of you have indeed done it...

Wanting to get back into PC gaming, and wanting a 17" screen I'm getting a fancy desktop replacement desktop in the next month or so.

In the meantime I'm trying out Windows 10 on my MBP, having not used Windows for nearly 10 years.

It seems nice, but my concern is that my new computer will have a 4K screen and on my 2012 Macbook Pro Retina, Windows 10 just doesn't seem to be consistent when it comes to high DPI stuff... the fonts are wishy washy, various icons may or may not be high res, some things look zoomed and pixellated which other things look zoomed out and tiny - All in all it feels like an unfinished and inconsistent experience.

It's not like high DPI is new tech, is it just that Windows / Windows developers haven't caught up? Am I expecting too much coming from my Mac bubble?

The downsides I'm seeing will still be trumped by the gaming capabilities and larger screen, but I'm hoping the stuff I'm seeing is somehow my fault and is fixable?

High DPI support is vastly better than it used to be, but not perfect. The two main areas of problems are:
- Running dual screens at different resolutions - a lot of apps are DPI aware at a system level, not necessarily a display level, and therefore will look perfect on one screen but not the other.
- Some apps are still not DPI aware, and will not scale up. There are ways around that through forcing scaling, but they will result in a level of blur. These instances are increasingly rare though.
