Hello,

Had 2-3 years with tiscali now, and always reliable, will say that (£17.99 per month).

However, it says on there site "Up to 8 megs download", Well i'm only on 1 meg (about 120 kps download measured by "netmeter), and whist ok for browsing, 1 meg doesn't seem to cut nowadays - especially viewing film/HD trailers (it's like being on dial up)

I'm on stabdard BT line connection, so wondered if there are some ISP recommendations to an upgrade, that will Guarentee me 8 meg, not just "up-to" Not really been searching a lot for a particular place, but what about Sky's package?, "AOL" yes no?. up to £30 per month will pay (up to that is;))

TIA

Id double check you can actually get faster than the speed your getting first of all. The distance away from your local exchange, attenuation and SNR are what determines how fast your connection can be, not your provider. Personally, we are with TalkTalk, and whilst they are not the best, they have been far far better than when we were with Tiscali, who were worse than useless.

OK. Well actually, i do remember when i was first connected up,my speeds were in fact very close to 8 megs (650-750 kps with net meter), but after about 2-3 weeks it just seemed to drop to 1 meg - so i think the speed is there.

Just wondering if Tiscali "sped-me-up" for the first few weeks to keep me happy, then drop me off to 1 meg (not everyone with wireless networks etc know what "netmeter" "speedtest.net" etc is.

Thanks
