Right I've been running windows 7 for a long tine and have kept away from 10 because I read some bad things but 10 been out a while now so is it as good as 7 or is there still problems. The reason I'm asking is that over the last few months I get this box pop up when I run some games saying something about Microsoft runtime and it's says the feature you are trying to run is on a network resource that is avaliable. Now if I run a game and this pops up I just cancel it and the game loads but I've now got a problem. I purchased a oculus rift for Xmas and when I try and install the software it says installing and that bloody box pops up and if I cancel it the instalation stops , if I ignore it the instalation just hangs ...I'm not very good with software so firstly I've no idea what the pop up means and have not got a clue what to do now except for a reinstall....if it is to be a reinstall I can still get windows 10 upgrade for free so would that be a better option than just putting 7 back on or is there a way to install My software and get my rift running...any help would be most welcome.

Not had a problem with my full clean install of Windows 10 for over a year now, however when I tried to upgrade my old W7 PC from within windows 7 it crapped out halfway through the install. If you're going to upgrade, full format your OS drive and clean install.

Hmmm very strange about the box popup in games and prevented software installations, it looked like your PC could be infected with a virus or malware in the last few months.

Never had problems with Windows 10, best to do complete clean installation on Windows 10 after free upgrade to Windows 10 before promotion offer end on 31 Dec 2017.

It sounds like some of the user folders are being redirected to a network location.

I have seen it before when you try and install programs and sometimes get that message.

Screen shot the error or write it down could try a google as well as this normally gives you the reg key that's cussing the problem
