Front Audio Arguement?

Hi,

I have built my wonderful new computer and love playing the games at ultra high (bit of a step up from my macbook) - save the apple hating for later...

All is well (or even incredible) but, the front audio jacks do not seem to work, the computer recognises if I plug something into one of them, but does not listen to the mic or send to the headphones, I have swapped the inputs around (mic & headphones), looked at realtek software but cannot seem to fix this.

I have googled more than anyone else on christmas day, but to no privale. Many people seem to be talking about disabling front audio detection and something about hd audio and ac97? I am not too sure what this means? It fails when I try to install ac97 it fails each time, not sure what to do...

Any ideas guys?

Thanks

Its stupid foxconn, firstly the quantum-force.net website doesnt exist which I got a card asking to register on, then drivers download at 6kb/s and then crashes after 40 mins... Is there a chance I need to rewire the tiny wires in the connector?

its a flamingblade gti...

The cable from the front audio jacks usually ends in a connector for AC'97 and another for HD audio.

Generally on modern systems you need to plug the HD audio connector into the header on the motherboard.

So you want to listen to the mic? On the bottom right corner, go to the speaker icon, right click it, recording devices. Right click on the default sound device and click properties. Go to the listen tab and tick "Listen to this device". Now click apply and you can now hear everything that gets recorded in your mic through your speakers/headset.

No, when I plug my headset into mic and speaker jack the computer recognises that they have been inserted but doesn't send or recieve any audio...

Could try going into the BIOS then and switch the audio settings from HD audio to AC'97 or vice versa and see if that works.

It looks like you're stuck as the front panel connector cable isn't compatible with the motherboard header.

You could always use the audio jacks on the rear I/O panel.
