Hi,

Built many a PC and 90% of the time the hardest part of the whole thing is getting the front Audio ports to work!?

I have just swapped my my MoBo to a P5K-VM and from what i can tell i have done every thing right...

The case has a audio cable to the front - the HD audio and the AC'97 are on the same set of wires and the mother board has 1 internal slot for front ports.
I have plugged the HD audio in and downloaded the latest realtek drivers. also tried installing the AC'97 drivers and plug them in but no joy.

I really wish this would work i don't want to be plugging into the back panel or using a usb headset or a usb-to-audio adapter. The ports are there i want em to work :(

Thanks in advance !

Either uninstall realtek drivers and set to ac97 or hdaudio then see if you get sound or use realtek drivers and in realtek sound manager in windows taskbar look for yellow folder and choose ac97 or disable front panel jack detection

Thanks i have uninstalled the realtek drivers and windows obviously did something as on restart it said audio driver installed and ready to use. I have also noticed that the jacks can now be seen in the control pane, both headphones and an extra mic (upon clicking properties each say they are front panel) however i am getting no sound.

BUT i have the HD plugged in at the minute. i will restart trying trying the AC'97.
Here goes...

Thanks for the help!

EDIT: Surprise Surprise It didn't work!
