front camera on iphone4 doesnt work?

would you guys just take this to the shop? they want £130 on the phone to replace it? a lot of money!

id pay that for a 4s but not a 4.
its a shame as i cant use facetime. i have tried everything to get it to work but even after updates/fresh installs the camera locks up when i switch it to the front one!

I'd just buy a replacement camera off the Bay for a fiver and do it myself, plenty of tutorials on youtube. But thats dependent on the fault being with the cam itself and not the hardware.
