Hi all,

Im back again with yet another issue this time with my Citroen C2,

Its had a new wheel bearing on the drivers side around a month ago and in the last week a really loud sound which I can only describe as a whirring noise which gets louder as the speed increases has came about,

Straight away I thought it must be the passenger side wheel bearing but got that changed tonight and the noise is still there,

We are lost for ideas now so I think im going to pop into a local garage tomorrow and see what they say but I wouldnt mind a second opinion.

The noise is there from around 10mph and gets louder the faster I go no matter if the clutch is dipped or the car is in neutral the noise doesnt change. There is no knocking when the car is on full lock and it doesnt get any worse when I apply the brakes.

Thats the best I can describe it,

Any ideas?

Thanks, Sam

their are normally 2 cvs to a driveshaft, when you turn the cv nearest the wheel clicks, if its gone, the one close to the box doesnt bend as much, so it could still be a cv..

Forget the CV idea, Hyper has already done a lock to lock test and said no change.

When he comes back with some more info on whether the noise changes "leaning into a bend at speed" as I've already asked, we'll have a bit more info to go on.

CV joints don't whine, they knock or crunch.

If you've had the wheel bearing changed and the whine is there irrespective of engine rev's or what gear you're in my money is on the diff.

Are you quite an aggressive driver? Wheelspins, accelerating strongly from a standstill or when turning out of junctions?
