Does the front headphone jack usually output more power than using the speaker out on the back?

I have some weird problem when using the front headphone out that it can make the sound robotic/distorted....but it seems to have more power to drive the headphones than the rear jack

Is that normal?

I would have thought it would be less, but 'higher output' would normally mean just more volume, if it were that.

It's likely a ground loop or EMI issue that can be common with audio sockets on the front of PC cases. Either there's an extra wire for grounding at the front of the case, or the cable is picking up electrical noise.
