What is it with manufacturers and putting the HHD bays perpendicular and behind the front intake fan? Is it just me or does this completely stop the airflow. I get that having HHD's there cools them but couldn't the bays be parallel to the airflow so as not to stop it?

Does anyone know how I can change this on my case? There don't seem to simply be some bolts I can undo.

I know what you mean - I had a coolermaster mystique 631 case which was a thing of beauty - except the HDD's blocked airflow and my GPU was like a toaster - I toyed with getting the hacksaw out but just bought a cheap antec 300 - airflow significantly improved.

You could mount the hdds in 5.25" bays. FDD bay is also a good bet.

Because of the orientation I mentioned, it doesn't matter whether the HDD's are in the drive bays or not because it's the drive bay itself which blocks the airflow.

Considering the hacksaw/drill and then bolt back correct orientation as my case doesn't have FDD bays
