front panel audio and sound card?

Usually you disable the onboard sound in the bios.
And the front panel audio cable is connected to a header on the sound card, instead of the motherboard.

One other thing, usually front panel cable has two connectors AC97 & HD Audio, use the HD Audio one.

ah right cool..

still learning all this...

so just disable onbaord sound,install sound card connect it up then driver it in???

is there anything else to plug into it???
 
no thats all unless you have a old graphics card then you might need to hook up the s/pdif header, and if you have a tv tuner card the aux input header aswell.
