The front panel audio on my CM 690 does not work. I ordered the case roughly 4 weeks ago.

Checked on my realtek drivers and the computer does not recognize a device being plugged in.

Back panel audio works perfectly.

Anyone got any advice?

RMA time?

Have you double check the connection to your motherboard from the front ports has not become loose.

Works great on my 690II Adv, I have to ask though, have you plugged in the HD Audio connector to your MB?

I'll do that tomorrow morning when I am less sleepy. Seems like this could be the issue although I doubt it.

Hmm.. I will have to check. Please remind me of the other option - I cannot recall the name. AC'97 I think?

I believe I would be using the AC'97

I have seen other posts about FrontPanelA in the CM 690 on separate forums.

I use the HD Audio for my front panel, I just leave the AC'97 plug hanging loose and out of the way.

I remember your build thread where you were advised to use HD Audio rather than AC97. Have you tried the HD Audio connector?

I assume you've connected the HD audio connector to the correct place on the motherboard:

Works fine on my HAF-X with a GD65 motherboard.

If all is well then when you plug in headphones or a microphone the Realtek HD Audio Manager pops up to check what you've plugged in.

If yours is connected correctly and not doing this then it looks like the motherboard or connections from the case are faulty.

Edit

A final thought.

Open the Realtek HD Audio Manager.

Click on the button with a spanner in the bottom right hand corner.

Ensure that "Disable front panel jack detection" is not ticked.

As people have said - ensure HD AUDIO is connected to the front panel audio connector on the motherboard; if you've got it, use it!

If you've only got AC97 (which I doubt it, as I've got HD Audio on my HAF 912) you will need to set the motherboard to use AC97 in the BIOS.

On mine it's not a spanner but a folder icon and it's in top-right not bottom-right so have a look there if you don't have the spanner icon Predicament.
