Right I have build in realtek sound which is fine, but is there anyway I can have the front panel audio using a different audio source....ie have my speakers playing music vis the rear output and headphones providing skype from the front panel?

I'm guessing not, but cant hurt to ask :)

I belive you need to have the right software/hardware for that one, I have currently Vista Prenium and Realtek HD and can do what your saying, I have my output sound (from back green port) connected to the TV so the family can watch just divxs and dvds and while there busy doing that I can plug in the headphones into the front and listen to my mp3 collection at sametime.

If you double click on the realtek manager (icon in right corner) or from the control panel, see if theres an advanced option on top right screen I can then choose make front and back output playback two different audio streams simultaneously.

You may however require Vista or Realtek updated drivers for this, I belive Vista can do multiple audio streams while XP im not sure of.

give it a go..... also are u on Vista?

Cos i read Vista can handle multiple audio streams, possible its cos your on XP ?

Also it might just be that realtek HD has it and not the normal realtek.....

Yup I'm on vista - having a slight issue though. I downloaded the new drivers from the realtek site, they installed fine etc, but now I not longer have the realtek software it would seem. The orange speaker icon that used to be in the bottom right is no longer there

Any ideas?

hmm not sure but id imagine there should be a realtek manager in the control panel.. if there is u can always re-enable the system tray icon from there.

They were 19mb High Definition Vista drivers, released 2 days ago.....google has been no help, only the old ac97 seem to come with software - tis very odd
