Front panel USB 3.0 issue ?

Not sure where best to post this so here goes...

If I connect my back-up drive to the front panel USB 3.0 I get a pop up every few minutes as if I keep unplugging it and then re?-plugging it in again.

If I use one of the USB 2.0 sockets it works as it should.

What's the problem here ? Driver issue perhaps...May be the answer to another thread I have going about "should I do a clean install of windows" since swapping out from A88/ AMD mobo.

Current set up - Asus Max Gene Z77 + i5 2550k

I used to get the same problem with an Akasa drive bay hub. Couldn't fix it so just plugged stuff into the rear motherboard sockets instead. I've got a suspicion that the cheaper front panel units don't supply enough juice resulting in the symptoms you've described.
