Hi, I just started my 1st ever build but have ran into a problem already. On looking at my old PC to see where the front panel wires should go I was faced with this :

This bundled connector seems to be for the power switch, reset button and LED's, however it looks nothing like this :

Which I am supposed to put the connector into.

I'm trying to get away with using my old Compaq case for now just to test the new parts in until I get a new one but it doesn't seem compatible looking at these wires, am I overlooking something or will I have to wait for a new case ?

The connector looks like an upside down USB, the blank pin seems to be on the wrong side.

Any help in getting my new machine up and running would be very much appreciated !

Hi, it doesnt look like it, I have green/black, red/black and yellow/black wires going into that connector which seem to lead to the power , reset and led connections on the front panel.

Heres a quick couple of pictures to give you a better idea of what I'm looking at,

Heres where it connects to the mobo :

And here are where the wires terminate on the front panel:

Ive had a closer look and they look to be for the power LED , HDD LED and the power on/off button, I dont have a separate reset button on the case.

:(Grr scrap this post ! Just noticed my new mobo won't fit in the case anyway, the old board must be matx, gutted
