Front seat release...MOT failure?

Hi all. My missus has a three door Astra and the seat release on the driver's side, that lets the seat come forward to access the back, doesn't work . I presume this is a broken cable. Does anybody know if this is an MOT failure?

So the seat can come forward under braking? If so then I think this is a failure, even if it isn't its dangerous anyway.

If it isn’t 'secure' it's a fail. Mine is secure unless you move it, then it can only be secure in one place because it can't move the holder so slides all over. So I held it in place with a screw, so you can't move it and then chuckle at a 6'5 man of fat squeeze in.

No mate, I mean when you want to access the back seats you operate a handle and the seat tilts and slides forward to give more room.

So do you mean its stuck in the correct driving position, then when you pull the lever it wont come forward? If so then you might be ok then.

It is secure, it just wont operate and tilt the seat forward.

no MOT fail for that but I'd get it fixed if you ever have rear seat passengers it's highly unlikely but would you want to be responsible for a rear seat passenger getting stuck to long and burnt alive?
