Somewhere in the middle.
I put some cans in the freezer to chill, then forgot about them and they ended up frozen solid.

Is there a problem with defrosting beer? will it taste dodgy or make me ill?

I drank beer that was semi-defrosted and I was ill the next day.
I drank 20 beers that had been in the freezer and defrosted and was ill the next day too. Must have been the defrosting :p

Drank de-frosted beer on many an occasion and never been ill. :)

Don't see how it could be a problem to be honest!

Some people think that because alcohol and water freeze at different temps that if you freeze beer you are left with pure alcohol, thats not the case so its fine :D

Might seperate it out a bit so there's more alcohol at the top though, just gives you an extra kick when you start the can off! :D

Only problem I've ever had with freezing beer is that it sometimes bursts the can open, which ain't ideal when it turns back to a liquid. Usually it just bursts the ring-pull open a bit, so as long as you defrost it the right way up you should be fine!

I wouldn't make a habit of freezing my beer, but I've never heard of it doing anyone any harm!

I don't know about beer but I have used a freezer to distill Cider into a loverly brew called Applejack. Made quite a lot of it in 6th form as we could hapilly bring a little cola bottle full in to drink at lunch time in the common room... it had the nice effect of making a cool drink out of really cheap cider!

The last time I defrosted a guinness I was violently sick for the following 2 days.

Was probably the virus though.
