frozen chicken - how long in freezer?

I think defrosting it is more important than the length of time it can stay in the freezer.

I could be wrong, though. :o

years! just dont do what i do -microwave 3 or 4 breasts that are stuck together then bash one of the breast off and put the other 2 back into the freezer, then repeat!

I've had 1 year old frozen chicken. I know this as I was renting a place for 12 months and it was the first thing I bought and consequently the last thing I ate. I'm fine. I think. Yeah. Eat it.

weve had some turkey in the freezer for over 6 month, however i wouldnt eat it as the fridge/freezer is outside! the turkey is now green, has black slug things growing on it and smells BAD.

edit -remember the purple milk thread!

As said above defrosting is the problem, if you defrost eat within 24 hours. If kept frozen i have no idea but i would say at least 1 month

years.. as long as it doesn't defrost, it's pretty much like canned food. Its still save to eat after 50 years just wont taste as good.

I would be weary after 3 months and probably chuck it out after 6 months.
