Hi..

So basically im trying to OC my i7 4770K.. I,ve been running it for months at 4.1 at stock voltage... so today i thought id try and start manually enterinmg the voltage and get to 4.2.

I started at 1.20v and now at 1.22v..been testing with Intel extreme tuning and AIDA64...i can run AIDA64 for 2 hours with no problems but Intel extreme wont last 40 mins! I was trying for 4.3ghz and it kept blue screening even upto 1.29V, what am i doing wrong? My MOBO is MSI-Z87-GD65.. the only thing I`ve altered in the Bios is core voltage.. should i be changing more than just the voltage?

So you upped the core clock from 4.1 to 4.3 and then started upping the voltage to 1.29V and kept getting blue screens from Intel Extreme?

Honestly, if it is running fine on AIDA64 I would suggest Intel Extreme might be cocking up rather than the overclock not being stable.

Did you run the stress tests before you started overclocking? Did Intel Extreme run fine then?

Yeah so at 4.1 at stock voltage and turbo disabled Intel Extreme would pass a 40 min run.. and i have benn running 4.1 for months..
at 4.2 at 1.22v it wont last half an hour without blue screen.. but AIDA64 was fine for 2 hours.
Tried 4.3 from 1.22v-1.29v with the same issue..

Yeah cheers.. i will start again when i get chance.. i was just unsure if i was missing anything else other than disabling turbo and adjusting the voltage.

I have heard some people say that SpeedStep has caused issues with their overclock so you could try disabling it, but personally I've not had this issue and it is preferable to have it enabled.

Cool. Set to 1600 to rule it out. Find your stable OC, then start tinkering with memory again. Sometimes all it needs is one of the principal memory timings loosened a notch.
