Months ago, even maybe a year ago now I picked up Mirrors Edge for the PC on one of the Steam sales.. I’m fairly sure it was something like £3.94 or very cheap..

Never played it past the training mission however recently completed Bullet Storm and was tempted to buy Max Payne 3, looked at my Steam list and thought.. you know, I’ve not played that game..

Which brings me to the topic title… Man, Mirrors Edge is the most frustrating game I’ve ever played yet I can’t put it down..

The Parkour style gamplay is great, the music is really nice and loving the art direction and style. Shame you nearly end up smashing your gamepad though the laptops screen…

What other games have been frustrating? Mirrors Edge is without doubt the most frustrating for me, not for the gamer with a lack of patience..

I would agree with Mirrors edge, and had to deinstall it after repeatedly failing to make a certain jump a gazillion times.. drove me crazy.

Any other frustrating games I have found could be overcome with the difficulty level.. so wasn't a major issue.. nothing else really springs to mind.

Mirrors Edge is an amazing game and I would applaud more of the same instead of the dumbed down mess we will get in the sequel.

Mirror's edge is brilliant! Not really hard as well until you get to the speed runs :p

Maybe it's easier with a controller? (I played it on 360)

Yeah, can't say I ever had a problem with Mirrors Edge tbh.

Super Meat Boy however....

Yeah mirrors edge was a brillinat break from the norm, I managed to finish it with out shooting anyone! very very frustrating especilay the bit near the end with the guy with a minigun!

Loved it and didn't find it that difficult. I still play the first few stages from time to time as I love the blue sky and futuristic city scenery.

It is a good game; I’m just finding some of the trial and error gameplay mechanics to be frustrating after you’ve fallen to your death for the umpteen time.

Visually, yes it’s amazingly good to look at, the lighting is fantastically done, even the motion blur works well as it gives a very good sense of speed – still doesn’t mean the game is any less frustrating for this...

Same here  Of course I'd be forced to stop and have a good look around sometimes or have to repeat a specific bit mostly just once, but nothing ever really frustrating..

As for the guns, I saw someone on another forum go on the most idiotic rant about them. In my mind I was saying "this isn't a shooter, you moron!" Honestly I never really thought to use them in my first playthough and on subsequent playthroughs I use them properly i.e. as just an optional, minor side thing that can mix it up a bit and isn't meant to be more than ~5% (if even that) of gameplay.

Great game in my opinion, with only the obvious shortness its only drawback. Really hope a (proper) sequel sees the light of day eventually.

I'll just go with my latest frustrating game; trying to get the most difficult achievements (e.g. the 'no damage' ones) on Binding of Isaac were pretty trying!

I was playing Mirrors Edge on the hardest difficulty and honestly can't believe anyone didn't have to use guns in certain sections.
Epic game though, I liked the gun mechanic, she isn't a soldier.

Exactly.

On my first go I just had it on normal difficulty so that's how I was able to avoid using them without much thought. I do remember being able to avoid again on hardest difficulty at least once but it was of course much... harder :o When not simply running away I'd really use angles/walls; mostly just quickly pop out and take a guy down and then get back behind something while moving towards and/or letting them come to me one-by-one, wasn't too difficult.
