Please bear with me as this is quite a long story...

Was running a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R, Dual Core E6420, 2Gb Geil PC6400 and a Gainward 6800 GS. Everything was working fine until just before Christmas it decided to switch itself off and wouldn't switch back on again. As there were no lights on the motherboard I guessed at either PSU or Mobo failure. I tried a spare PSU and there was no difference so decided it must be motherboard.

As I was going to have to rebuild I decided to add another 2 Gb RAM, replace my IDE DVD for a Sata, and buy a new case.

This time went for an Asus motherboard, the P5KC Combo Intel P35.

This was built with my original processor, graphics card and the 4 x 1 Gb memory in a new Antec P190.
Everything fired up first time, Windows installed cleanly and all was good until about a week later when it started to show a reluctance to reboot - sometimes taking up to 10 times before it would fire up.
Decided that maybe the processor had been damaged when the mobo went (was reporting very low CPU temperatures) so bought a 6750.

Stripped everything out, put new processor in, and it fired up first time again. Everything seemed to be working fine.
Fast forward 3 days when I install a bit of software that needs a reboot, and it decides it doesn't want to start up again.

Symptoms are:
On switch on the HDD activity light flashes on, the DVD drive spins to see if there is a disk in the drive, then nothing - don't even get a BIOS screen.

All that's left of my original machine is the graphics card, but I'm reluctant to spend even more money if that's not the cause.

Anyone got any ideas?

psu is providing bad voltages undoubtley or you have faulty ram, take out the 2 original sticks and just try the two new sticks, try theis with the spare psu too :)

if no lukc then download and run memtest (google it), but i owuld put money on a intermitent psu or faulty ram.

Tried with each set of RAM in turn, and same issue. Can't run memtest as won't get as far as running anything. Burnt the iso to CD and tried booting from it, but nothing.

PSU is a possibility, but when it was running all the voltages were spot on. With it being a P190 it's difficult to try with another psu as well :(

Might see if I can rig up another PSU outside the case to power the mobo/gfx card to see what that does.
But, not sure why it would run for over a week the first time, and 3 days the second before the issue started if the psu wasn't supplying enough juice?

only other option is to rma the lot, but i would perosnlay test it with a seperate psu.

if it doesnt even get to the bias screen you may need to reset the mobo.. i am sure someone will be able to tell you to reset cmos etc on here :)

Unfortunately it came from two different suppliers, so I really need to pinpoint the source of the issue before RMAing anything.

Before replacing the CPU I reset the CMOS just in case that was the issue, but it didn't solve anything.
