Ive just spent a couple of hours trying to install an aircraft into my FS2004 airplanes directory. Im after a Dash 8-300 , preferably in Air Southwest colours. AVSIM have a model and texture pack but after installing it the game doesnt include it in the list of available aircraft. I just unpacked everything into the aircraft directory and ran the sim.

Im not sure if the model is just incompatible with 2004, so does anyone know another site that would have this model?

I haven't been on my Flight Sim 04 for ages now and have forgotten most of what I did know. I would have been able to help more if you had asked me a year ago. But I guess you didn’t have the problem then, did you? :p

From what I remember:

When I used to play a lot I got all my add-on aircraft panes, textures and scenery etc from http://www.flightsim.com/ They have a huge selection of downloads.

One thing you could try is to extract the files to a different location. My Documents for example, and have a look at the files and folders you have. From there you can manually copy the folders into your aircraft directory.

As you say is a model and texture pack you should find one folder usually named with the title of the plane. So in this case something along the lines of “Dash 8-300”. This folder should contain a Sound, Texture, Panel folder etc. Just copy the main folder containing all the sub-folders into your aircraft directory. Then it should work. I guess this is what you have tired already. If it doesn’t work then I can’t help much more.

Are you sure it is not just a texture pack? Because it is slightly more complicated installing new textures and it is easy to go wrong. Also make sure that the pack is compatible with FS2004 as this can cause problems. :)

Right, thats it. You'vr tempted me to install FS again now i can run it on tip top settings. Just hope all my downloads will work when i copy them back off my backup DVD.

I've got a new PC and have my 'extras' saved on an external drive. Thankfully LOMAC has my complete attention. :D
