fsb or ram speed

ola,

i've got a socket a 2800+ and i've got a couple of choices on the overclock really. normally i have my ddr333 ram (crucial) clocked to 400mhz and it's very comfy. i then decide that i fancy a bit more out of the cpu (its only ever been run at stock). so i take a look in the bios and up the fsb to 200mhz (1.5gig roughly) and set the divider for the ram so it's still at 400mhz; but windows won't boot. the fsb's too fast for the HDD i figure - because the temps in the bios r pretty good (about 48c) for the cpu.

to counter this i drop the fsb to 184mhz and try to set the ram divider to get it back to 400mhz but the nearest i can get (without going quite a bit over the 400mhz mark) is about 368~mhz or something. windows boots in fine like this and i was just wondering what was the best course of action to pursue...

should i keep going on the fsb until it tops out, or should i just take it back to the default cpu speed and up the ram to 400mhz? what is the best option?

What motherboard are you using? The answer to your question depends on whether your motherboard's chipset is happy running the cpu and fsb Async.
